in isolation i can see where you are coming from. The jabbing motion at the next lane after the Marshal call in combination is what makes it obvious and unique. The hazard on road surface is generally pointed within a lane, we are not concerned with a hazard in the road that is not in our lane and a static arm pointing is the hand signal for a Marshal that is moving. My immediate concern here would be that if the RC is pointing static, it could be equally confusing on the other side.
As for the movement and marshal call, its a fluid combination of things, the RC moves from side to side throughout a ride to have visibility behind him. The view in each mirror is differen and i'll often shift to get a better view, dependg on what im looking for. The shift to the side and the finger in the air constitutes a marshal call, you dont want the marshals to start anticipating a call based on the movement of the RC.
I think we can certainly have a left hand pointing vs right hand pointing discussion. Personally i believe that the right hand poining removes any ambiguity around the signal.

The pointing and jabbing motion could be confused as a hazard. Should it perhaps not be a simple point to the lane to block?
The video should show the RC moving to the left, then the finger up call then the indication to what lane to block? This could be the RC right hand and it could be the left hand over the helmet pointing to the right.
